Box Score ST. GEORGE, Utah--Hawai`i Hilo head softball coach Callen Perreira was probably wishing that he could save some of this offensive output for later.

The Vulcan softball team scored six runs before Chadron State even took a swing and piled on from there, bashing their way to a 19-0 win on Friday morning in the shortened (five inning) game at the Dixie State Courtyard Classic in St. George.

Before the cold morning game was finished, UH Hilo had 16 hits and improved to 3-3 on the season. Chadron State (Neb.), from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, fell to 2-6.

The Vulcans had six runs in the first inning, eight in the second, four in the third and one in the fifth. Never did a pitcher have so much run support, as Billi Derleth rode that to her first win of the year in her first start. She allowed just five hits, walked one and struck out three. 

The offensive stars for UHH were many, as ten different Vulcans had hits. Kiarra Lincoln had three of those hits, including a home run and double, she drove in four runs and scored four times. Kimberly Olivas had a home run, two hits and two RBI, and Rayla Jacobs-Kea smashed a two-run round-tripper. Skyler Thomas, making her first start of the year at first base, had a home run, two hits and two RBI. Markie Okamoto  and Jaycie Bruno round out the list of multi-hit artists, each with two hits and two runs scored.

The Vulcans will have no time to celebrate, as they are scheduled to take on Metro State (Colo.) at 12:30 p.m. Mountain time.
