LA JOLLA, Calif.—Wrapping up five matches over a six-day period, the Hawai`i Hilo men's tennis team defeated UC San Diego in a 4-0 clinch on Saturday afternoon on the Northview Tennis Courts.

UH Hilo will return to the Big Island with a 9-3 record, winning four of five on the trip. UC San Diego is now 7-9 on the year.

The Vulcans took all three doubles matches, although each was close. Vaclav Slezak and Alessandro Giuliato, ranked 13^th in the country, edged Marc Isaia and Sreeganesh Manoharan, 7-5. That duo improved to 8-3 on the season.

Chun En Wu and Martin Soukal moved to 10-2 with a 6-4 win, and Alan Cincunegui and Luca Checchia took the win on court three, 6-4.

At No. 1 singles, Slezak played nearly flawlessly in rolling to a 6-0, 6-1 win to gain team point number two. En Wu was next on court four (6-1, 6-3) and Soukal was the next finisher (6-4, 6-4), edging Giuliato who was leading 6-3, 4-1. Checchia and Cincunegui had also won their respective first sets before the match was called.

Next up for the Vulcans is a match on Saturday (April 6) on Oahu against Hawaii Pacific. It's a match-up of the No. 21 team in the country (UHH) against the No. 3 Sharks.
