HILO, Hawaii-- The men's basketball team began their 2021-22 campaign with an unheard of six games in seven days, three of those contests against Division I schools. The first two games were exhibition (against Univ. of Hawai'i and University of Pacific), and the next four were regular season. The men's basketball team stepped up to the challenge and began their season 4-0,
defeating DI Northern Colorado in overtime.
The Vulcans put themselves on the map, earning their way into the NABC Coaches Poll on Tuesday, Nov. 23 as No. 19. The nationally ranked Vulcans are set to take off on a three-game road trip tomorrow morning, Nov. 24, with their eyes set on taking down the NABC coaches' No.1 Lubbock Christian. The game is scheduled for Nov. 24 at 3 pm HT in Honolulu, O'ahu at the Shark Tank.
After UH Hilo faces off against Lubbock Christain, the squad will travel to Alaska where temperatures are supposed to be as low as negative four degrees. While in Alaska, the men will face Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 3pm AT and then have a rematch against Alaska Anchorage on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 4:15pm AT.
