Vulcans "Under Consideration"

The first official NCAA West Region Softball consideration listing is out, and the Vulcans are in the mix.

The NCAA list is alphabetical the first two times around, before ranking the teams in potential postseason order. The NCAA West Region tournament is slated for May 19-21 at a site to be determined.

The list includes eligible teams from the Pacific West Conference and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The CCAA (California Collegiate Athletic Association) has opted out of playing this year.

April 21's group includes (in alphabetical order, with records) Biola (15-9), Central Washington (11-10), Chaminade (10-8), Concordia-Irvine (15-8), Dominican (14-14), Hawai`i Hilo (11-4), Northwest Nazarene (16-6) and Western Washington (14-6).

The Vulcans will head to Oahu this weekend to take on Hawaii Pacific in a six-game series that begins on Friday at 1 pm. The Vulcans and Sharks will also play doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday with noon starts at Howard Okita Field. The Sharks are coming off a midweek sweep of Chaminade in a doubleheader for their first two wins of the season (2-9).

UH Hilo is scheduled to play their final regular season games on May 6-7 in Hilo at the Walter Victor Complex.
