Vulcan senior pitcher Leah Gonzales was named the Pacific West Conference Pitcher of the Week for her work this past weekend in the final regular season games of 2021.

Gonzales picked up wins in the pitching circle in two of UHH's three games, improving her overall record to 7-1 on the season. Among starting pitchers, she leads the PacWest with a 1.28 ERA.

The Wilmington, Calif. native pitched a total of 11 innings and gave up just nine hits and two total earned runs. In the final game of the regular season on Senior Day, she pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, gave up just four hits and struck out three.

In her Vulcan career, which began in the spring of 2017, she now has a career won-loss mark of 35-19, a winning percentage of .648.

Gonzales will try and help her team extend their season and her career this week at the PacWest AQ Pod Series in San Rafael, Calif. The Vulcans open with No. 12 nationally ranked Concordia on Wednesday at 11 am PT, followed by a match-up with host Dominican at 2 pm.
