HILO, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i Hilo women's cross country team posted personal bests all around as the Vulcans hosted their lone home event Saturday morning with the Hawai'i Hilo Invitational at the Grand Naniloa Resort Golf Course.
Emma Heidelmeier (20:45.5), Summer Corke (20:54.7) and Lauren Runnels (21:50.3) again placed in the top 10 with finishes at fifth, sixth and ninth, respectively, for the 5K run.
Seniors Heidelmeier, Sabina Boo-Rivera, Lily Gavagan, Olivia Jarvis and Kathy Perez were honored after the race for their work and dedication toward the Vulcan program.
Hawai'i Hilo finished third behind Chaminade and Hawai'i Pacific.
HPU's Karen Corona Perez took the top spot after four previous runner-up finishes.
On the men's side, the Sharks beat the Silverswords with Troy Oshimo finishing in first place.
The Vulcans will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 8 for the Hawai'i Pacific Invitational on the north shore of O'ahu at Kahuku Golf Course.
