HILO, Hawai'i – Another match and another exciting down-to-the-wire finish as the Hawai'i Hilo women's volleyball team fell to Point Loma Nazarene University in four sets — 18-25, 23-25, 28-26, 23-25 — Saturday night in Pacific West Conference play at the Vulcan Gymnasium.
Nikki Logan (Huntington Beach, California/Edison HS) slammed down nine of her career-best-matching 26 kills in the third-set win to help power the Vulcans with momentum to a 23-19 lead in set No. 4, but the Sea Lions slapped together six-straight scores to end the threat and take the match.
Each of the final three sets were separated by a mere two points, making it a total of 16 sets this season that have been decided by the minimum two-point threshold.

- Logan matched a career-high of 26 kills that she previously achieved Sept. 19 against Academy of Art earlier this season.
- Samara Cruz (Escondido, California/Escondido HS) posted her seventh double-double of the season after totaling 15 kills with 17 digs.
- Cara Bolte (Honolulu, Hawai'i/Maryknoll School) tallied career highs of nine kills and five digs.
- PLNU'a Abigail Nua helped power the Sea Lions' comeback as she finished with a career-best-matching 23 kills and career-high 18 digs.
- The Sea Lions amassed 21 total blocks with the Vulcans notching just four. Anna Massari and Torina Hommes totaled double-digit figures for PLNU with 14 and 10, respectively.
What's Next
Hawai'i Hilo fell to 2-18 overall, 2-12 PacWest as Point Loma Nazarene improved to 11-3 in the PacWest (16-6 overall).
PLNU remains tied with Fresno Pacific at second place in the standings behind Chaminade (12- 1 PacWest) at the top.
The Vulcans will be back at Vulcan Gymnasium Wednesday, Oct. 26 to take on Azusa Pacific (9-3 PacWest, 14-6 overall) for White Out Night sponsored by Grand Naniloa Resort. Fans are encouraged to wear white and the first 500 fans will receive a free specialized T-shirt.
The Sea Lions will return home to San Diego to play Holy Names next Thursday.
