HONOLULU, Hawai'i – The No. 6 Hawai'i Hilo women's soccer team started its O'ahu-weekend slate with a scoreless tie against Chaminade Friday morning in Pacific West Conference play at the Saint Louis School Field.
The Vulcans were out-shot by the Silverswords at an 11-7 margin with the visiting team coming away with just three shots on goal. UH Hilo only had two shots in the second half, both of which came with under six minutes remaining in the match.
Lolo Retsky (Calabasas, Calif./Sierra Canyon School) got the start in goal and finished with three saves as Viviana Poli (Ontario, Calif./South Hills HS) made her second appearance of the season again playing the entire second half to total two saves. The two combined to post the Vulcans' sixth shutout of the season.
Coming into Friday's game, the Vulcans were ranked No. 6 in Division II with a .375 goals-against average. They were also ranked No. 21 in shutout percentage (.625).
Additionally, Daelenn Tokunaga (Waipahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City HS) was fourth in D2 with 0.83 assists per game followed by Nanea Wall's (Kainaliu, Hawai'i/Konawaena HS) No. 10 ranking at a 0.62 assists average.
Hawai'i Hilo came out victorious, 2-0, in the two teams' earlier non-conference matchup two weeks ago on the Big Island.
This is the Vulcans' second draw this season after previously playing a scoreless 90 minutes against Hawai'i Pacific in non-conference play.
Due to rule changes approved in April 2022, there is no overtime for regular season contests.

Hawai'i Hilo moves to 7-0-2 overall and 2-0-1 in PacWest Conference play while Chaminade moves to a 2-0-1 PacWest record (5-3-1 overall).
The Vulcans will head to Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Complex on Sunday for a matchup with Hawai'i Pacific (1-0-1 PacWest, 2-3-3 overall).
The Silverswords host Holy Names on Thursday.
