KAHUKU, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i Hilo women's cross country team notched its best finish of the season with a runner-up placement at the Hawai'i Pacific Invitational Saturday morning at the Kahuku Golf Course.
Emma Heidelmeier (22:01.2), Summer Corke (22:59.3) and Lauren Runnels (23:23.7) again led the Vulcans with top-10 finishes at sixth, seventh and 10th, respectively, for the 5K run. It's the third time this season the trio has placed in the top 10.
Sabina Boo-Rivera followed at the No. 11 spot with a time of 23:55.4 for a career-best placement as Aurea Streadbeck had her best finish of the season at No. 16 (24:36.1).
Hawai'i Hilo finished behind Hawai'i Pacific and ahead of Chaminade.
HPU's Karen Corona Perez took the top spot in consecutive meets after four previous runner-up finishes. The Sharks placed a runner in the 1-5 slots.
The Vulcans will head to Washington later this month for the NCAA D2 Pre-Nationals hosted by Seattle Pacific.
PacWest Conference Championships will be Nov. 5 in San Leandro, Calif.
