HILO, Hawai'i – Another week, another matchup and another down-to-the-wire finish with HPU.
Seven days after falling to the Sharks in overtime on O'ahu, the Vulcans re-matched on the Big Island for round two of Pacific West Conference play, battling to a 66-tied score at the end of regulation before ultimately ending on the wrong side of an 80-75 final arithmetic.
The Vulcans ended the fourth quarter with five consecutive points, making the last bucket with just under two minutes remaining, but both teams would combine to go 0 for 6 from the field to send the contest to the extra five-minute period.
Keirstyn Agonias landed the last of her 17 points at the 2:55 mark of overtime to give Hawai'i Hilo its last lead as HPU's Abby Spurgin strung together the Sharks' next seven points to help them pull away for the win.
The teams had just met last Saturday with HPU getting the best of the Vulcans, 84-78, in overtime.
