KANEOHE, Hawai'i– The UH Hilo softball team committed most of their damage out the get-go against Hawai'i Pacific in their 5-2 win at the Howard A. Okita Field.
The Vulcans improved 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the PacWest Conference while the Sharks fell 6-8 and 0-1 in the PacWest. 
UHH inflicted some first-inning damage against HPU. The Vulcans accumulated four runs off three timely hits. Chloe Domingo knocked in the first run with a base hit to left (1-0). Taisha Brattin continued the rally doubling to deep center which pushed two more Vulcans across (3-0). Bratton advanced to third off a single by senior Skylar Thomas and then scored off a Sharks' wild pitch (4-0).
HPU didn't go down without a fight, scoring a run in the fourth and fifth innings (4-2).
The Red and Black answered back in the sixth when back-to-back pinch hitters executed. Nikki Zielinski began the two-out rally with a double and Alana Alvarez picked her up with a single that was mishandled by the left fielder (5-2).
Sara Bhatt threw her third complete game and picked up her third win of the season.
