HILO, Hawai'i– The women's and men's basketball teams are headed out to Fresno, California to give it their all at the PacWest Conference Championships hosted by Fresno Pacific at the Special Events Center.
This is the first time in school history that both teams are advancing to the conference tournament; the women's first time returning since 2014 and the men's first time in program history.
Women's Basketball
The Vulcans are the No. 6 seed facing No. 3 Academy of Art. The Vulcans have split their games against ART U, both taking a win at their home gym.
Both contests were closely contested. UH Hilo and ART U both had opportunities to take the game away, making it come down to the final minutes.
Game time between the Vulcans and Urban Knights is Thursday, Mar. 3 at 10:30am HT (12:30 PT) in the Special Events Center.
Men's Basketball
The Vulcans are the seventh seed entering the conference tournament. They were tied with Concordia in the PacWest Conference standings, but CUI received the edge by winning both games against UHH, making Concordia the sixth and UH Hilo the seventh seed.
The No. 7 Vulcans are set to play No. 2 Azusa Pacific. The Cougars have beaten the Vulcans twice this year, but only three conference teams have been able to put down APU this season.
However, anything can happen on a neutral site and the Vulcans and Cougars are set to play on Mar. 2 at 12:45pm HT (2:45pm PT) in the Special Events Center.
