SAN DIEGO--The UH Hilo women's golf team made a nine stroke improvement from Monday to Tuesday at the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invitational at the Shadowridge Country Club in Rancho Bernardo.

Kaelyn Uchida was UHH's top golfer, this time with a 79. She finished tied for 52nd (82-79) at +17 for the 36 holes.
It was a loaded field that featured three teams ranked in the top 13, including No. 1 nationally ranked Lynn (Fla.), No. 5 Barry (Fla.) and host No. 13 Cal State San Marcos. The home team Cougars (+18) finished three shots ahead of Lynn (+21) and 11 more ahead of third-place Biola (+29).
Cal State San Marcos' Diana Delgado was the medalist at -1 under par (70-73), two shots ahead of Barry's Alice Gotbring (72-73). There were four players tied three shots behind Gotbring at +4.
UH Hilo's next golfer behind Uchida was Tia Kuali, who had an 82 on Tuesday (87-82 total).
The Vulcans will remain in San Diego for Thursday's Biola Invitational at the Grand Del Mar Resort.
