TURLOCK, Calif.--The UH Hilo softball team was shutout 8-0 by Sonoma State at the Pedretti Sports Complex.
The Seawolves' pitcher, Jesse Dupuis, limited the Vulcans to only two hits while striking out five UHH batter's in the seven-inning ball game.
The Vulcans were only trailing by three runs until Sonoma State had a standout five-run seventh inning that would prove to be a deficit too difficult to overcome as UH Hilo struggled against the Seawolves pitcher.
Three Vulcans shared time on the mound including Sara Bhatt (5.1 IP), Tehani Seto (1 IP) and Alexis Lacy (.2 IP) to close.
The Vulcans play their final game of the Tournament of Champions Sunday (Apr. 3) against San Francisco State at 9:30am HST (12:30pm PST) before returning home to Hilo.
