GOLETA, California – Tia Kuali'i, Kiersten Saludares and Trinity Ledgerwood each finished 10 shots over for a tie at eighth place as the Hawai'i Hilo Women's Golf team placed fourth at the Westmont Invitational this past week at the Sandpiper Golf Course.
At the conclusion of Round 1 on Monday, Ledgerwood was alone atop the individual leader board at even-par, followed closely by Saludares and Kuali'i in sixth place (plus three). The Vulcans were also sitting pretty tied with PacWest Conference mate Point Loma for the No. 1 spot (plus 17).
The Vulcans ultimately slid down to a No. 4 finish after shooting 25-plus in Round 2.
Elle Otani improved on her Round 1 score by eight strokes to move up 10 spots to just inside the top 20 at a tie for No. 19. Kailey Oki also bettered her opening-round score by seven shots.
Point Loma advanced by six shots to stay atop the team standings for the event win at 28-over.
CSU Monterey Bay's Mandi Blanc shot 73 on both days to finish two-over for a first-place finish.
Hawai'i Hilo will close out the fall portion with three events on the Big Island in a head-to-head matchup with HPU (Oct. 14-15), the HPU Sharks Shootout (Oct. 23-24) and the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate (Oct. 27-28)
