HONOLULU, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i Hilo women's tennis team opened its season with a shutout victory over Chaminade, 9-0, Thursday morning at Ke'ehi Lagoon Park on O'ahu.
Akari Ichikawa got the win in the No. 1 singles slot as well as teaming with Lehua Jordan in the Vulcans second doubles flight.
In addition to the team sweep, Hikari Osaki and Lehua Jordan posted 6-0 set scores in each of their singles matchups for shutouts, as well as in the duo's doubles win in the No. 3 slot.
The Vulcans will be back in action tomorrow against HPU (1-2 overall) at the Kailua Racquet Club starting at 11 a.m.
