BELLINGHAM, Washington – The Hawai'i Hilo Women's Cross Country team competed against tough regional competition as the Vulcans hit pay dirt on the continent for the first time this season, competing at the 6K Bill Roe Invitational hosted by Western Washington University Saturday morning.
The Vulcans placed 12th among teams competing, led by Megan Donovan at the No. 91 spot (27:56.0) for a score of 67.
Freshman Kalani Gonzales followed shortly behind (28:01.0) in her first collegiate race.
Olivia Jarvis (28:46.0) was also not too far behind as Kate Smith (29:35.4) and Aurea Streadbeck (29:47.2) rounded out the finish for the Vulcans.

Trinity Western's Constance Nankivel finished at the top spot at a time of 21:16.5, just over 22 seconds faster than the runner-up finisher.
University of Victory finished No. 1 in the team standings.
On the men's side, Western Washington took home the team crown.
The Vulcans will return to the Big Island to host their lone home event of the season with the Hawai'i Hilo Invitational next Saturday morning, Sept. 30, at the Grand Naniloa Resort Banyans Golf Course.
