Tempe, ARIZONA – With a slew of solid transfers and a strong showing in the fall, the Hawai'i Hilo Men's Tennis team earned the No. 21 distinction in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association Collegiate Team Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point released last week.

Hawai'i Hilo will get spring competition started Feb. 16-17 with two matches against No. 12 HPU on O'ahu.
Reigning Pacific West Conference champion Azusa Pacific landed at the No. 24 spot.
The next rankings will be released Feb. 14.

INTERCOLLEGIATE TENNIS ASSOCIATION
Originally founded in 1956 by the legendary UCLA men's tennis coach J. D. Morgan, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men's and women's varsity tennis at all levels. Over the past four decades, the ITA has worked hard to achieve its charter goals: (1) "To foster and encourage the playing of intercollegiate tennis in accordance with the highest tradition of sportsmanship and consistent with the general objectives of higher education." (2) "To develop among the intercollegiate coaches a deeper sense of responsibility in teaching, promoting, maintaining, and conducting the game of tennis" And, (3) "To educate and serve those individuals and groups who are involved in collegiate tennis: junior and college players, their coaches and parents, and the at-large tennis public."
The ITA administers the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings (singles/doubles/team) that are designed to track the top men and women teams and singles and doubles players in NCAA Divisions I, II, III, NAIA, NJCAA, and CCCAA.
WeAreCollegeTennis.com is an ITA initiative intended to raise the profile of college tennis.
