KUNIA, Hawai'i – With numbers back at full strength, Hawai'i Hilo Women's Cross Country capped regular-season competition with its second victory of the season, this time at the 6K Sharks Open hosted by HPU at the Hawai'i Country Club Saturday morning.
Isabel Raymond again led the Vulcans with a No. 3 overall finish. Megan Donovan (No. 5) and Kaia Spiess (No. 10) both posted 6k personal best times as Hawai'i Hilo also claimed the No. 6, No. 7 and No. 15 placements.
"It was a great effort today on a tough course that we've never seen before. I'm proud of how the team balanced these obstacles while still executing the goals for today," second-year head coach Alan Ryan said. "Next week we'll put the finishing touches on our preparation for the PacWest Championships where they'll have the opportunity to showcase the skills they've mastered this season."
Chaminade's Maria Steinke and Nikiji Dayse again took the top two individual spots, except this time it was Dayse claiming victory.
UP NEXT
Hawai'i Hilo will compete at the Pacific West Conference Championships meet set for Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California.
The Vulcans will then continue on and compete at the NCAA West Regional Championships on Nov. 9 at Amend Park in Billings, Montana.
