LA MIRADA, California – Hawai'i Hilo Men's Soccer posted a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory over Biola in Pacific West Conference action Thursday afternoon at Al Barbour Field.
Palli Ingvason got the Vulcans on the scoreboard early with a goal in the eighth minute assisted by Colby Lee. Gen Takahashi added an insurance goal in the 63rd minute.
Paul Waschkau made his fifth start of the season in goal, recording two saves and his first shutout as a Vulcan (fourth career overall).
OTHER NOTABLES
- Colby Lee moved into a tie at No. 5 in the program record books with 20 career points (as a Vulcan). The second-year senior also moved to a tie at No. 5 with eight assists.
- Freshman Kanilau Tolentino-Perry made his first start of the season, just two games after making his season debut.
- Hawai'i Hilo moved one step closer toward qualifying for the inaugural PacWest Conference Championships postseason tournament, bringing its points total to 12 to sit in fourth place. PacWest newcomers Menlo and Vanguard are ahead in the standings but will not be eligible for postseason play as they are in Year 2 of a three-year NAIA-NCAA transition period.

The Vulcans finish in Southern California taking on Westmont (Oct. 26) this Saturday. Hawai'i Hilo will return for a two-game home stand to close the regular season hosting Fresno Pacific (Nov. 2) and Chaminade (Nov. 9).
The top four teams in the regular season standings will qualify for the inaugural PacWest Conference Championships set for Nov. 14-16 at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California. Newcomers Menlo, Vanguard and Jessup are in Year 2 of a three-year NAIA-NCAA transition period and are thus ineligible for postseason play.
