HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Brody Davis hit the game-winning basket inside the key with under a minute remaining to help Hawai'i Hilo Men's Basketball complete a 17-point comeback for a 65-64 victory over Adelphi Friday evening at HPU's The Shark Tank as part of the Hoops In Hawaii Thanksgiving Classic.

The Panthers managed to build up their lead to as large as 17 points with just over 10 minutes remaining in the second half, but that's when the Vulcans heated up to close out the game on a 24-8 run, scoring 14 consecutive points.

Nadjrick Peat totaled six points, five rebounds and two blocks during the run, including making the game-ending defensive stop on Adelphi's final attempt on an inside jumper that was too strong off the rim. Peat finished with seven points, 11 boards and three shot stoppers.

The Vulcans also hit four 3-pointers in the final run, getting seven points from Julio Montes II (finished with team-high 12 points) and six from Jake Kosakowski (11 total points).

Hawai'i Hilo moved to 4-3 overall as Adelphi moved to a 5-3 record (2-1 NE10).

OTHER NOTES

• Hawai'i Hilo shot 8 of 16 (.500) at the free throw line while Adelphi was just 3 of 4 (.750).
• Adelphi was shooting 35.7 percent from beyond the arc heading into the final 10 minutes of play and still attempted five more 3-pointers — all misses — to finish 5 of 19 (.263).
• Adelphi's Jarnel Rancy collected six blocks as the Panthers outscored the Vulcans inside the paint at a 42-28 margin. Hawai'i Hilo won the rebound battle at 34-30.
