SANTA BARBARA, California – Carlos Ramsey Jr. outdid himself with a new career-high 36 points to help the Hawai'i Hilo Men's Basketball team wipe past Westmont, 83-72, Saturday night in Pacific West Conference action at the Murchison Gymnasium.
The Vulcans led the entire way, building up to a double-digit advantage at halftime with as large of a lead as 16 points through the early parts of the second half.
Starting near the 10-minute mark, Westmont managed to shoot 8 of 8 from the field to whittle the score down to just five points with over six minutes remaining, but that's when Ramsey Jr. took over.
The preseason All-PacWest Team pick scored 18 of the Vulcans' final 24 points going perfect from the field (6 of 6) and the free throw line (5 for 5) to trade baskets with the Warriors before ultimately extending Hawai'i Hilo's lead back out to double digits to seal up the victory.
Ramsey Jr. finished shooting 13 of 20 and 8 of 10 on free throws with six rebounds.
Kalique Mitchell grabbed his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points (8-13 FT), 10 boards and four assists.
