Women's Tennis Rolls Stanislaus State

Hawai‘i Hilo moved to 2-0 with a dominant 6-1 win over Stanislaus State.

TURLOCK, California – The Hawai'i Hilo Women's Tennis team kept rolling in its season-opening weekend of play with a dominant victory over Stanislaus State, 6-1, Sunday morning at the Stan State Tennis Courts.

The Vulcans were victorious in all three doubles matches with Nanami Okamoto and Akari Ichikawa blanking the Warriors, 6-0, on Court 1.

In singles competition, Hawai'i Hilo wiped the floor 2-0 victories on Courts 2-6, with Okamoto narrowly falling in the 10-point tiebreaker on Court 1.

Julia Barden, Satoho Toriumi, Hikari Osaki each moved to 2-0 to remain unbeaten in singles through the early season.

Hawai'i Hilo moved to 2-0 overall while Stanislaus State moved to a 1-4 record.

The Vulcans wrap up their season-opening slate in Northern California against Academy of Art Monday morning. Hawai'i Hilo will then hop over to O'ahu next weekend for matchups with Chaminade (March 2), Dominican (March 3) and HPU (March 4).

Pacific West Conference Championship is set for April 17-20 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Arizona.
