HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Basketball closed its 2025-opening home stand with a 62-49 defeat to Biola Saturday evening in Pacific West Conference play at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
After a 14-all ballgame at the close of the opening quarter, Biola managed to outscore Hawai'i Hilo at a 13-2 clip, but a 6-0 spurt by the home team to end the first half kept the Vulcans within striking distance. After a bit of back and forth, the Eagles managed to pull away through the third and fourth periods by posting a 21-7 scoring advantage through to the 6:14 mark of the final period for their largest lead of 20 points.
Caiyle Kaupu followed up her career-best performance with 17 points and seven rebounds to lead the Vulcans.
Both teams made just three 3-pointers throughout the evening, but the Vulcans took seven more long-range attempts (.150) than their opponents (.273).
Hawai'i Hilo moved to 1-5 in PacWest play (3-9 overall) as Biola moved to a 4-4 conference record (4-12 overall).
