O'AHU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Tennis and first-year head coach Guilherme De Medeiros closed its season-opening O'ahu slate with a 6-1 victory over Chaminade on Thursday morning at the Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park, marking not only the first win of the season for the Vulcans, but also the first-career victory for De Medeiros.

The Vulcans opened their season earlier this week taking on Stanislaus State on Tuesday at the UH Manoa Tennis Complex, falling 4-3, before returning on Wednesday for a 6-1 defeat to Dallas Baptist.

Through the three matches, senior McKenna Mountain went undefeated in singles at the No. 1 spot.

Against the Silverswords on Thursday, the Vulcans were down a player and spotted Chaminade a one-point lead in singles and a 1-0 advantage in doubles. Hawai'i Hilo was successful in overcoming the uphill battle to win doubles on Court 1 and Court 2 before sweeping the five remaining singles matchups.
