Men's Basketball Stunts Warriors

ROCKLIN, California – Nadjrick Peat capped the evening with his third-career five-block outing, stopping a Warriors shot with 21 seconds left to help Hawai'i Hilo Men's Basketball claim a 74-69 victory over Jessup in Pacific West Conference play Saturday afternoon at the Warrior Arena.

The Vulcans outscored the Warriors, 19-7, to open the first eight minutes of second-half action for their largest lead of 18 points, but Jessup managed to claw its way back into the ballgame by mustering up a 23-2 run. Hawai'i Hilo responded with an 8-0 scoring spree to take a five-point advantage into the final three minutes of play.

With the score at 72-69 and time winding down under a minute, Jessup's Anthony Enoh seemingly had a clear lane through the key to the basket but had his shot sent back by a leaping Peat with Jake Kosakowski on the rebound. Julio Montes II added to his team-leading 15 points with two free throws to help seal up the victory.

Hawai"i Hilo picked up a key victory as five teams are vying for the final two PacWest Championships postseason tournament berths with just a handful of matchups remaining. Already having clinched tournament spots are Point Loma, Biola, Academy of Art and Westmont with Hawai'i Hilo, Chaminade, Fresno Pacific, Concordia and HPU still battling it out.

Hawai'i Hilo moved to 10-8 in PacWest play (17-11 overall) as Jessup moved to an 8-17 conference record (5-14 overall).
