CALIFORNIA – Victoria Macias got her sophomore campaign started hot in batting .526 on 10 hits for eight RBI over the season-opening weekend at the Concordia Kickoff Classic to land the first Pacific West Conference Player of the Week award for 2025 as announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Vulcans went 2-3 in California with wins over Western Oregon and Sonoma State and close losses to No. 23 Cal State San Marcos and No. 15 Cal State Dominguez Hills in 12 innings, the latter of which Macias recorded 22 putouts and two assists at first base.
Macias' highlight of the weekend was a 4-for-5 outing for five RBI and two runs scored in a 16-13 victory against Sonoma State. She capped the scoring with a two-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning to add extra cushion to the Vulcans lead.
Hawai'i Hilo will head to O'ahu this weekend for the Ulili Softball Invitational taking on Hillsdale (Michigan), Lewis (Illinois), Ferris State (Michigan) and Nebraska-Kearney.
