HILO, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Hilo Softball closed a three-game series against Biola by taking a 4-1 victory Saturday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at the Vulcan Softball Field.
Junior pitcher Madi Lee made her fifth start of the season in the pitching circle, going the whole distance in scattering seven hits for just one run scored in the second inning when the Eagles managed to get three of their hits to bring across their lone run on a sacrifice fly out to center field.
That Eagles run tied the game after the Vulcans had collected back-to-back singles to start the bottom of the first inning with Jayda Favela scoring on a sac fly by Victoria Macias.
Lexie Tilton provided the game-winning run with a solo homer in the third inning — her second of the season.
Vulcans added two more runs on a Janessa Santos double — first hit of the season — and a Kanoe Piltz base hit to left field.
Hawai'i Hilo moved to 16-14 in the PacWest (22-21 overall) as Biola moved to a 24-6 conference record (32-16 overall). Vulcans remain at No. 6 in the PacWest standings. Biola is slotted at No. 1.
