INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Hawai'i Hilo Women's Soccer's Teani Arakawa was named a recipient of the 2025-26 NCAA Division II Degree Completion Award Program.
Started in 2001, the program has provided financial assistance to nearly 1,900 student-athletes with exhausted athletics eligibility to complete their first undergraduate degree.
Arakawa (Makawao, Hawai'i) recently wrapped up a three-year career with the Vulcans last fall after having spent her first season at Division-I South Dakota State. The 2021 King Kekaulike High School (Maui) graduate added two All-America, two Academic All-America, and back-to-back All-West Region and Pacific West Conference Player of the Year honors to her long list of career accolades. Arakawa departs as Hawai'i Hilo's all-time scorer in points (81), goals (30) and assists (21).
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
- Student-athlete who has completed athletics eligibility at an active NCAA Division II institution.
- Within 40 semester hours (60 quarter hours) of completion of an undergraduate degree.
- Degree must be completed within 10 semesters (15 quarters).
- Meet the institution's standard for good academic standing.
- Applicant cannot concurrently receive any athletics aid from the institution.
- Use of award to complete the first undergraduate degree requirements from the institution where the student-athlete exhausted their athletics eligibility.
Last year, three Vulcans student-athletes were selected as recipients of the NCAA Division II Degree Completion Award Program.
