SAN RAFAEL, California – Hawai'i Hilo Men's Basketball fell to Fresno Pacific, 89-80, Monday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play at the Special Events Center.
The Vulcans chased just one point at halftime, but the Penguins managed to shoot 44.0 percent from the field through the final 20 minutes of play, going 15 of 21 at the free throw line. Hawai'i Hilo was 1 of 10 on 3-pointers through the second half.
Hawai'i Hilo rallied down the stretch and made it a four-point game with just over three minutes to go, but Dominican managed to hit 11 free throws the rest of the way to hold on for the win.
Julio Montes II put up 20 points in a consecutive contest, shooting 7 of 14 with three 3-pointers Thursday night. Dre Nobles followed with 18 points and seven rebounds while Alex Horiuk had 15 points (7-9 FG) and eight boards. Brody Davis finished with seven points and nine rebounds.

PACWEST PRESEASON POLL
Hawai'i Hilo was voted No. 2 in the Pacific West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, tying with Fresno Pacific. The Vulcans finished the 2024-25 regular season in a three-way tie at No. 4 in the conference standings and was one of six teams to qualify for the PacWest Conference Championships postseason tournament, falling to defending champ Point Loma in the semifinal round. The six-team 2025-26 PacWest Championships will be hosted by Point Loma on March 5-7 in San Diego.
