NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Both Hawai'i Hilo Men's Golf and Women's Golf maintained their position in Tuesday's PacWest Championships Round 2 at the the Aliante Golf Club.
Men's Golf (-2) increased its 10-stroke lead to 18 shots ahead of now-second-place Menlo (+16) after posting consecutive rounds of 287 (-1).
Dylan Bercan (-6) maintained his two-shot lead by turning in a 70 score (-2) for Round 2 after again landing six birdies in Round 2. Vanguard's Kyle Koski (-4) remains in close contention with a consecutive round at two-under in second place. Ben Crinella (+3) also shot two-under in Round 2 to jump up the leaderboard for a tie at fifth place — along with Jacob Torres (+3), who shot plus-five in Round 2. Katsuhiro Yamashita and Dysen Park sit tied closely behind with both at four-over in ninth place.
Hawai'i Hilo Men's Golf will look to secure its fourth consecutive PacWest Championship (seventh overall) with tomorrow's concluding round of play. Bercan looks to become the first Vulcan to claim a second PacWest individual title.
On the Women's Golf side, the Vulcans shot 15-plus to remain in second place at plus-24 overall — just three strokes behind new leader Dominican (+21) after shooting 10-over in Round 2. Previous leader Westmont (+34) took 20 more shots than in the first round and dropped to No. 4 in the team standings.
Elle Otani (+3) turned in a plus-one scoreboard to move up into No. 5 overall. Kiersten Saludares (+6) shot five-over to move into a three-way tie at No. 8. Trinity Ledgerwood (+7) and Kailee McKee (+8) shot Round-2 scores of four-over and plus-five to sit at No. 11 and No. 14, respectively. Westmont's Hannah Camara (-2) shot plus-two to maintain her spot atop the leaderboard. Menlo's Kim Penzold (E) trails by two shots in second place.
A title grab would be the first for Hawai'i Hilo Women's Golf (second overall) since 2014.
