“I was hitting a lot of fairways all week and kept it in play,” said Russell. “It was outrageously windy the first day. They had two or three spotters on every hole. Even when I hit it into the bushes, I always had a play out.
“I played the same ball for all 18 holes so it worked out pretty well.”
Jamie Hall finished tied for 7
th place with a 225 (74-76-75). Tied for 23
rd place was
Chris Shimomura (76-81-73=230).
Corey Kozuma was tied for 5
th place (84-82-77=243) and
Blake Snyder finished in 65
th place (84-84-81=249).
Host Chico State won the tournament by a 20-stroke margin with an 894. “We're slowly coming together but just can't put it together. We're counting an 84 in the first found, and 82 in the second round. We counted a 77 in the final round.”
