Vulcans tie Silverswords

The University of Hawaii at Hilo opened the 2011 Hawaii Challenge with a 0-0 tie with Chaminade University in Honolulu, HI.

“It was extremely hot and windy on the St. Louis High School soccer field,” said UHH Head Coach Bryan Green. ”Our defense held up and I'm very proud of another shutout.

“Our offense didn't produce as many opportunities we had hoped for so that's the next place to focus.”

The Vulcans (1-0-1) had nine shots on goal led by Keoki Haole's four attempts. Matthew Nielson and Cameron Castillo had two shots on goal each.

Paul Elias and Luis Romero once again split time in the goal with Elias picking up a pair of saves in the first half and Romero tallying three in the second half.
