HILO, Hawai'i – Vulcans Madness ran its course Thursday night as the Hilo community got their first look at the 2015-16 University of Hawai'i at Hilo basketball teams.
 
With a few hundred fans in attendance third-year men's Head Coach GE Coleman's 15-man roster and sixth-year women's Head Coach David Kaneshiro's 13-women squad were on display for all to enjoy and envision the coming season.
 
Each team was given five minutes to warm-up and another five to scrimmage. In a challenge of 3-point shooting between the squad, the women's Sydney Mercer beat Parker Farris.
 
Following the long-range shooting of the women's team and the dunking escapades of the men's team, student fans were enticed to join them on the court with the opportunities to win scholarships. A lay-up, free-throw and 3-pointer in 30 seconds won a $250 scholarship. A half-court basket was worth $500.
