WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – Cal State Monterey Bay ran away with the title while UC San Diego's
Clayton Yamaguchi held on to win the 10
th Annual Dennis Rose Intercollegiate Golf Tournament on the Waikoloa Resorts' Kings' Course.
The Otters entered the final round at 15-under 571 (282-289) and finished with a 281 to end the tournament at 12-under-par 852, 27 strokes ahead of Wilmington University. UCSD was third (885) followed by St. Martin's University (887), host
University of Hawai'i at Hilo (890), Concordia University-Ore. (895), Cal State Dominguez Hills (897), Notre Dame de Namur University (904), Chaminade University (911) and Hawai'i Pacific University (938).
Yamaguchi was the only player to turn in three rounds of sub-par scores (70-69-70). CSUMB claimed the next three spots with
Fredrik Jullum finishing second at 5-under 211 (72-70-69).
Sophomore
James Coon tied for eighth to lead the Vulcans. He finished at 2-over 218 (72-75-71). Senior
Kyeton Littel was tied for 18
th with a 6-over 222 (72-74-76). Freshman
Jared Kinoshita (T22, 76-74-73=223) was a stroke back and tied for 22
nd. Senior
Ric Yamamoto (78-77-78=233) was the fourth Vulcan to turn in three scores in the 70s and finished tied for 41st. Sophomore
David Tottori (84-76-73) completed the Vulcans team.
