KAILUA KONA, Hawai`i--Nationally ranked BYU-Hawaii moved to 4-0 on the young season with a 9-0 win over Hawai`i Hilo in women's tennis action on Saturday at the Holua Tennis Center.
The Vulcans dropped to 0-3 on the year, with two of those losses coming to the No. 2 nationally ranked Seasiders.
Also for the second time in a week, UHH's No. 2 singles player
Sara Valero took her match to the near limit before falling, the closest Vulcan to get on the winning side of the scorecard.
Valero lost to BYUH's Leah Heimuli 6-4, 1-6, 10-4, one day after dropping a heartbreaking third set (10-8) in her match against Sonoma State.Â
The Seasiders won the rest of the doubles and singles matches in straight sets.
UH Hilo will continue their five-match stand in Kona with a Sunday fray with Chaminade. Start time is 9 a.m.
