LAIE, Hawai`i--The Hawai`i Hilo women's tennis team wrapped up a week of play on Oahu on Wednesday, falling in a tight match to NCAA Division I Colgate, 7-2.

The Vulcans will come home with a 3-9 overall mark, while the Raiders improved to 4-5.

Daniela Sanz Caseli and Sara Valero picked up victories and No. 1 and 2 singles for the Vulcans, and UHH dropped two other very close matches that could have drawn them closer to the school from New York. Sanz Caseli outlasted Colgate's Lauren Hyland in a three-set match, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 on court one, while Valero cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Hannah Fleckenstein at No. 2 singles.

Those four also hooked up in a very good doubles match at No. 1, with the Colgate duo winning by just three shots, 9-8 (7-4). UHH's Kinsey Volkart also played a great match against the Raiders' Lauren O'Brien at No. 3 singles before coming up just short, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5.

The next match for the Vulcans will be on March 25 against Dixie State, played in northern California.
