SAN RAFEAL, Calif.--Hawai`i Hilo picked up two wins and dropped two other very close matches during a 7-2 women's tennis loss to Dominican on Sunday at the Castellucci Tennis Center.

The Vulcans are now 3-11 on the year, while the Penguins, who have won four of their last five matches, improved to 6-5.

Sara Valero had a hand in both of UHH's victories. She won a tense match at No. 2 singles over Rickimae Torres, 3-6, 6-3, 11-9, and teamed with Daniela Sanz Caseli to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-6 over Skyler Schaar and Brooke Briseno. 

Sanz Caseli dropped a tight three-setter to Schaar on court one, 6-1, 4-6, 10-5, allowing the Penguin a bit of revenge since Sanz Caseli won the last time the two met. The other tight match of the day was played on the third doubles court where DUC's tandem of Solveig Karlsen and Cori Beeby topped Kinsey Volkart and Shanise Kaaikala, 9-7. 

The Vulcans will return to the court tomorrow, taking on Holy Names at Mills College in Oakland. Start time is 9 a.m. PDT.
