LAKEWOOD, Calif.--UH Hilo's
Daniela Sanz Caseli won at No. 1 singles and doubles, but host Concordia won the match 7-2 on Friday morning at the Lakewood Tennis Center.
The Vulcans' record fell to 4-14 on the season, while Concordia improved to 11-7.
Sanz Caseli, a junior transfer, teamed with
Sara Valero to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-4 over Samantha Schwab and Ghada Al-ajeely. She also cruised to victory on court one in singles, 6-3, 6-2 over Anastasiia Kuprina. The Brazil native and Barton CC transfer is now 10-8 on the season in singles.
UHH's
Cheyenne Schula and
Napapon Vorasane lost a heartbreaker at No. 2 doubles, coming up just short against Kuprina and Kathrine Jensen, 9-7. Same sentiment for Valero at No. 2 singles, where she lost a marathon with Concordia's Schwab, 6-4, 7-6. Schula also lost a close one on singles court No. 4, losing 6-3, 6-4 to Al-ajeely.
The rest of the day belonged to the Eagles, winning the rest of the singles matches in straight sets.
The Vulcans, in the midst of a 10-match road trip, will get a few days of rest before taking on UC San Diego on Monday in La Jolla at 1 p.m. Pacific time.
