LA JOLLA, Calif.--No. 9 nationally ranked UC San Diego got back on the winning track with a 9-0 win over Hawai`i Hilo on Monday afternoon at the Northview Courts in La Jolla.

The Tritons, who are 14-3 on the year and ranked third in the west region, had dropped back-to-back matches on a trip to the south against No. 6 West Florida and No. 7 Columbus State. They returned to San Diego over the weekend and Hawai`i Hilo was the rebound opponent, and the Tritons responded with straight set wins across the board.

The Vulcans fell to 4-15 on the year with the loss. 

UHH's No. 2 singles player Sara Valero put up a good second-set fight in her match against Becky Chou, falling 6-0, 6-4, but the rest of the matches were dominated by the Tritons.

The Vulcans will continue play in southern California tomorrow, taking on No. 19 nationally ranked Point Loma.
