SAN RAFAEL, Calif.—The Hawai`i Hilo women's tennis team swept singles play to secure an easy 8-1 win over Dominican on Friday afternoon at the Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
The west region win improved the Vulcan's record to 4-5 on the season, while the Penguins dropped to 5-6.
Irena Le and
Marina Colvee each rallied back to win three-set matches in singles play. Colvee won on court four over Kaitlyn Nguyen 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, while Le wrapped up play for the day with a hard-fought 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 win over Taylor Lim.
UH Hilo's only loss on the day was at No. 1 doubles, where Danielle Sanz and Devanshi Bhimjivani were edged by Skyler Schaar and Rickimae Torres, 8-6.
The Vulcans continue play in the bay area with a Saturday match-up against Holy Names. The action begins at 2:30 pm (Pacific time) at Mills College in Oakland.
