COSTA MESA, Calif.—Host Concordia won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles bouts to edge Hawai`i Hilo on Saturday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center, 6-3.

The victory moved the Eagles' mark to an even 7-7 on the year, while the Vulcans dropped to 6-7.

The Vulcans were just a couple of points away from swinging the doubles edge to their side of the scoreboard. Daniela Sanz and Devanshi Bhimjiyani lost by just two shots to Anastasiia Kuprina and Samantha Schuster, 8-7 (9-7). UH Hilo had already lost at No. 2 doubles, but won on court three behind Sara Marin and Irena Le, 8-6, over Haley Diefenbach and Ghada Al-Ajeely.

With the 2-1 lead, Concordia captured the top two singles matches behind two nationally ranked players. #13 Ghazal Pakbaten fought off UHH's Sanz at No. 2 by the count of 6-2, 7-5, while #34 Kuprina topped Bjimjiyani on court one, 6-0, 6-4.

Again, two shots was the difference on court three between victorious Johanna Keelin (CUI) and UHH's Marin, 5-7, 7-5, 10-8. Marina Colvee picked up a big win for the Vulcans on court four with a comeback 6-7, 7-5, 10-5 victory over Schuster, and Carmelle Joyner won for the tenth time this season (10-2) with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Al-Ajeely at No. 5.

The Vulcans have three more matches on this long road trip, taking on Biola on Monday in La Mirada. Start time is 2 p.m. Pacific.
