SURPRISE, Ariz.--The UH Hilo women's tennis team split the singles matches with opponent Stanislaus State, but the Warriors had the slim edge in doubles to win a first round match at the Pacific West Conference Championships on Wednesday morning at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Center, 5-4.
UH Hilo, the No. 8 seed, had singles victory on courts two, three and four with
Daniela Sanz,
Sara Marin and
Marina Colvee claiming victory. In doubles, Marin and
Irena Le won at No 3 doubles (8-3), but the Warriors (8-11) won the other two doubles matches to claim the victory
The Vulcans (7-10) will now head to the consolation bracket, where they will play Holy Names (5-12) on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
