Vulcan women wrap season with 5-0 win over Hawks
SURPRISE, Ariz.—The University of Hawai`i Hilo women's tennis team put a successful cap on their season with a 5-0 win over Holy Names in the consolation bracket of the Pacific West Conference Championships on Thursday at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Center.
The Vulcans, who dropped their first round match to Stanislaus State, wrapped up the season with an 8-10 record. They finished 5-16 in 2017.
Senior
Sara Marin finished her career with a pair of wins. She won singles court three (6-1, 6-0) and teamed with
Irena Le to win third doubles, 8-2.
Daniela Sanz and
Devanshi Bhimjiyani won in No. 1 doubles (8-4) and
Marina Colvee and
Carmelle Joyner did the same on court two, 8-2.
Joyner was the other official winner, triumphing on court five in singles, 6-1, 6-1. Colvee was one point away from wrapping up as well on court four.
The Hawks finished the year at 4-17.
