HILO, Hawai`i--Hawai`i Pacific took home the team titles for both men and women at the UH Hilo Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning at Grand Naniloa Golf Course.

HPU's Robyn Kaltenbrunn crossed the finish line first, this time over a minute in front of the rest of the field. The junior from South Africa, who also won the HPU Invitational last weekend, ran the six kilometer course (grass) in 22:58.4. The Sharks took six of the top eight spots to win the team title with 23 points, with host UH Hilo (56) edging out Chaminade (58) for second.

The closest race of the day was for second and third place in the women's rUN. Chaminade's Alena Albertson ran down UH Hilo's Olivia Jarvis at the finish line, just edging the Vulcan with a time of 24:02.9 to Jarvis' 24:03.9. Right around the halfway point of the race, Jarvis had passed Albertson to run most of the race in second place.

The next four runners after Jarvis were all from HPU, earning medals: Karen Corona Perez (24:28), Jasmine Hapenas (24:40), Brooke Gottmeier (24:59) and Sophia Cash (25:11).

UH HIlo's top five runners after Jarvis were Caitlin Kawaiaea (26:26), Emma Heidelmeier (26:41), Annaka Barragan (26:55), and Sabina Boo-Rivera (27:08).

HPU's Lukas Motschmann won the men's race, also one week after capturing the HPU Invite. The senior from Germany ran the eight kilometer course in 25:35, topping teammates Jona Bodirsky (26:27) and David Rutto (28:01). Chaminade's Peyton Oshiro was fourth (28:51). Others gaining medals were HPU's Jason Flores (29:47),  and Chaminade's Beau Larsen (31:03) and Elijah Bernado-Flores (31:45).

For all three schools, for both men and women, it was their final tune-up before the Pacific West Conference Championships, Oct. 26, in Fullerton, Calif.
