IRVINE, Calif.--The University of Hawaii at Hilo women's soccer team wrapped up their 2019 season with three consecutive wins, and they tacked on two Pacific West Conference Player of the Week awards as well.
Sophomore
Jodi Lillie has been named the PacWest Defender of the Week and
Nanea Wall has been tabbed as the PacWest Freshman of the Week, honors handed out today by the conference office.
It's the first PacWest weekly award these season for any Vulcan women's soccer player, and it is somewhat fitting with the way they ended their season that they grabbed two honors. The Vulcans won their last three outings, all at home, by a combined score of 7-0 to finish 5-4-2 in conference play and 6-7-4 overall.
Lillie, a First Team All-PacWest pick last year as a freshman, had a hand on the defensive end of the field in all three shutouts, as the Vulcans allowed only two shots on goal in three total matches. She also snuck down to the opposite end of the pitch to score twice. She had two out of UHH's three scores in the 3-0 win over Holy Names, scoring the first and third goals of the match. She also had an assist earlier in the year, and started in all 17 matches for her team. Lillie hails from Mililani, Hawai`i.
Wall, a freshman from Konawaena High School on the west side of the Big Island, scored twice in UH Hilo's 3-0 victory over Academy of Art. Despite starting only six of the Vulcans' 17 matches this season, she finished the campaign as UHH's leading scorer with five goals and one assist (11 points). She was fourth on the team in shots (27) but first in shots on goal (17).Â
Lillie and Wall helped the Vulcans finish the season on a strong note, moving up to fifth place in the final standings of the Pacific West Conference.
