WAIKOLOA, Hawai`i--After a memorable Thursday at the 28th annual Amer Ari Intercollegiate, the Hawai`i Hilo Vulcans came back down to earth a bit on Friday.

The Vulcans, who were tied for 12th in the 18-team all NCAA Division I field, slipped three spots into 15th with a second-round total of 291 (+3). That leaves them even par for the two rounds, with one more round to be played on Saturday.

Jared Kinoshita shot one-over 73 today, leaving him at -5 for the tournament (he shot a 66 on Thursday). He is tied for 20th place in the medalist hunt.

Defending Amer Ari champion and No. 1 nationally ranked Oklahoma State maintained their lead, carding a 273 to sit at -36 overall. Five shots back in second place is No. 8 ranked USC (-31) and Texas is in third (-30). The Longhorns had the lowest team score of the day at 265.

The new individual leader is Texas' Cole Hammer, who shot a 64 today to go with his 67 on Thursday (-13). Right behind him at -12 is Edwin Ye of Oregon and Justin Suh (USC), the No. 1 ranked golfer in the NCAA.

Taylor Patrick played even par on Friday (72) to post UHH's lowest score. Warren Miller and Evan Merrier were just one shot behind Taylor with a pair of 73's.
