SAN RAFAEL, Calif.—The University of Hawai`i Hilo women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches and took down Dominican in straight sets on singles courts one, two and six to clinch a 4-1 victory on Thursday at the Castellucci Family Tennis Center.

The win moved UH Hilo's record to 3-4 on the season while the Penguins drop to 3-7. UH Hilo continues a four matches in four days trek tomorrow, with a Friday contest at Stanislaus State (1 pm Pacific).

Anouk Van Hoek was UH Hilo's lone double-winner on the day, teaming with Carmelle Joyner to whitewash their opponents on court one (6-0) in doubles, while also defeating Taylor Lim on singles court No. 2 (6-3, 6-4.). Sandra Dafincescu and Hina Nishida also triumphed on court three (6-2), to give the Vulcans the deciding team point in doubles.

Marina Colvee was UHH's first singles winner, cruising on court one to a 6-1, 6-2 win. Van Hoek followed, and Irena Le provided the clincher with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 6. Both Joyner and Gabriela Aguilar Lawlor were engaged in tight matches in the third set with Le secured the team win.
