TURLOCK, Calif.—The Vulcans picked up a win each in singles and doubles but it wasn't enough to stop host Stanislaus State as the Warriors defeated Hawai`i Hilo in women's tennis action on Friday morning at the Warrior Tennis Courts.
Carmelle Joyner rolled to victory on singles court four over Kayla Nguyen (6-2, 6-3), and the Vulcan tandem of
Marina Colvee and
Irena Le took victory on court No. 2 in doubles, 6-2. Anouk Van Hoek was in a third set on court two in singles, and
Sandra Dafincescu had narrowly lost a marathon first set on court three (7-5) and was in another long battle on in the second set when the Warriors clinched the match.
The Vulcans are now 3-5 on the season and Stanislaus State improved to 5-5. UH Hilo will take on Fresno Pacific on Saturday at 9 a.m. (Pacific time).
