SURPRISE, Ariz.—As it turns out, the sequel was a lot like the original.
That was unfortunate for the Hawai`i Hilo women's tennis team on Wednesday morning at the Pacific West Conference Tennis Championships, losing to Point Loma, 4-0. The Sea Lions also beat the Vulcans by that same score late last month in San Diego.
#5 seed Point Loma took care of business in an hour at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Center, improving to 11-6 on the season. The Vulcans, who will wrap up their 2019 season on Thursday (5 pm Pacific time) with a consolation match against Stanislaus State, are now 5-11.
Point Loma took the doubles point and then captured singles victories on courts three, five and six to clinch the match.
The Vulcans played Stanislaus State earlier this year in Turlock, Calif., falling to the Warriors, 4-1.
